Before you go and get stupid, read up.

Conflicts with SP 2 are listed there. Something you should note, and find funny. On the top of the list for prone problems, is VS Studio .net and SQL Server. Odd both microsoft programs. You mean they dont work together. Screw it IM getting a MAC!

Uhh, if you don't know enough to shut off Windows Firewall and use a REAL one, then SP2 is the least of your worries.

The firewall incorporated into Windows XP SP2 is better than nothing, and for the majority of users, it's a good idea.

If you know what you're doing, the best thing is to have a hardware firewall, and then you can disable the Windows Firewall completely. This isn't an option for everyone, especially those on dial-up or technically challenged. I think it's the start of a good trend for MS to be incorporating such things into the OS.
