This is kinda a computer problem/Looking to buy post, but here it goes.
I have a co-worker who is looking for a used tower to purchase. It's for his kids who need to surf the internet and run Microsoft Word/Office products.
Does anyone have an older system that would serve this purpose they are looking to sell?
I've showed him a few of the shuttles on Newegg that cost around $200.00 which might be an option for him, but i figured i'd check locally and see who might be looking to get rid of something.
They are used to Windows XP, so that would be the minimum spec for the PC. I even have a windows disk i could install for them.
If you have any questions, just let me know. And i appreciate your taking the time to read this and looking around your house for a PC.

If all else fails, does A+ & Stone computers sell used computers, and would they be worth the cost, or should i think about buying one off newegg for $200/$300?

With the price of parts these days, i wouldn't think that buying a used computer at retail would be worth the cost. I know that I don't really have any parts.spare computers since I switched over to a single laptop for all my stuff, but I'll ask around in meatspace for you as well to see what I can get. How urgent is it, need it asap, or is this more of a Christmas present?

I'm guessing deals like that will be going on at least somewhat regularly up until Christmas but would have to pull the trigger pretty fast.

I'll have to ask about the urgency, i'm assuming sooner than later, but i did get on new egg and found some really good deals www.newegg.com/Product...mbo.295369 So all i would need to pick up would be RAM and it would be a brand New PC. Now would this run everything i need (XP & Office products?) I'm not that tech savy when it comes to speeds and stuff, but i could find another motherboard with a better rating and i'd be in business for under $400 with a brand new system and case!

That would be plenty for basic computing. Throw in a $75 video card and it would play all but the newest games without issue.
